About Us

"Fashionistas in Maumelle can get their shopping fix without leaving the city", thanks to Tara Higgins, owner of Shine Boutique, who opened her brick-and-mortar store about a year ago after first starting the store in her home. She said she opened her business in order to provide affordable, up- scale clothing to the local community. “There was a need for it in Maumelle,” she said. “We have a lot of people who, if they work in Little Rock and shop on the weekends, they don’t want to go back to Little Rock, or if they need something last-minute, people in Maumelle don’t want to have to cross the bridge, as they say.” Higgins wears many hats at the boutique, which offers a wide selection of fashionable apparel for women of all shapes and sizes. The store also carries gifts made by local jewelers, woodworkers and other artisans. Getting to know customers is one of the best parts of the job, she added. “I enjoy seeing people when they come into the store and making people feel good about themselves,” she said. “We try to get to know them by name so when they come in, we know what kind of clothes they want. It’s a very personal experience and a relaxed atmosphere.”

My name is Maggie Culp aka Boss lady. I started at Shine right after it opened and have stuck around ever since! I’m Tara’s right arm and left on a busy day. I attend Maumelle High School and after graduating will be going to Arkansas State University in the fall. I plan on majoring in Communication Disorders, but that is subject to change. Ha! I love Gilmore girls and Chick Fil A sweet tea.  Oh and i can’t forget about my addiction to Dr.Pepper! The Boutique is my second home. I love working here and the home feel I get from the customers. I couldn’t imagine a better place to work. Maybe one day I’ll own my own!

Hey my name is Ashli Mesaris! I just recently joined the shine team but have been coming to shop here since the store opened and I absolutely love it! I am 21 years old and currently attending at the university of Central Arkansas and majoring in communication sciences and disorders. What I like about the boutique is the people interaction I get to have and getting to help people find things that look good on them and go together. In the future after I am done with my undergraduate program at UCA I plan to apply for graduate school and go to get my masters degree and become a speech therapist and get the opportunity to work with kids!

Hi, my name is Emma Smith. I started working for Shine in December of 2017, but have been shopping here with my mom ever since it opened! I am a student at Maumelle High School and will be graduating Spring of 2019. After graduation I plan on majoring in nursing, so I can fulfill my dreams of helping others. Working in such a fun atmosphere with amazing coworkers and customers is such a blessing and makes working enjoyable! Since shopping is my favorite “hobby”, working at Shine is the perfect job for me!
